Local high schooler wins lottery for $10 ticket "Hamilton" tickets
A few hours after Abby Cavanaugh of Renfrew got word that she and her mom, Lori, had won a lottery to buy $10 tickets to “Hamilton” in Pittsburgh, she was still breathlessly excited about it.
“I have loved the show since it came out,” the 17-year-old Butler High School senior said Wednesday afternoon.
The smash hit musical opened on Broadway in 2015 and began a national tour last year.
“We entered the lottery for the past couple of days and we weren’t getting it and we weren’t getting it, and then today I found out we won,” she said Wednesday. “I was in school. About 11:30 a.m., an email came that we won. I also got a text.”
Mom and daughter attended the show Thursday evening at the Benedum Center.
“We got the box office two hours early to pick up the tickets, and they were in the front row!” Abby said, still breathless.
“We could see everything. It was just amazing. The whole cast was amazing.”
