North swimmers end season on high note
North Catholic’s swimming quartet of Luke Lamb, John Lamb, Matthew Littleton and Jackson Kress closed the season with a very strong performance at the PIAA Class 2A championship meet.
They placed fourth in the boys 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of three minutes, 12.01 seconds Thursday at Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium.
The effort came a day after the foursome finished second in the 200 medley relay at 1:34.84.
In the backstroke, Luke Lamb was fifth (50.73) and Kress (52.16) was eighth.
The top eight in each event earned a medal.
During the two-day event, Freeport sophomore Kira Schrecongost earned two medals, placing third in the butterfly (56.16) and sixth in the individual medley (2:07.31).
Knoch’s Giona Lavorini finished third in the breaststroke (1:03.12) and eighth in the IM (2:08.51).
Katie Reott, of Moniteau, earned a trip to the medal stand by placing fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.07.
Slippery Rock’s girls 200 freestyle relay squad of Ann-Katherine Burns, Natalie Double, Season Grant and Grace Olshanski swam a time of 1:40.84 to place sixth and break the school record in the event.
Boys Tennis
North Catholic’s doubles teams of Alex Foubert/Braeden Golla and Wills Kontul/Alex Weber both won as the Trojans defeated Seneca Valley, 4-1.
Michael deVyver picked up the Raiders’ win at No. 1 singles.
