Edward W. Jenkins, 83, of Apollo peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Friday.

He was born in Herman on April 26, 1929, to the late Edward W. and Nellie Jenkins.

Ed worked for Don Martin Trucking, dug graves for Prospect Cemetery as a self-employed backhoe operator and retired from the Harrison Township Water Authority. He also worked at West Arms as a transporter in Apollo.

Ed was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Vandergrift. He served Meals on Wheels and was an avid bowler.

Ed enjoyed sporting events, traveling and NASCAR.

He was the beloved husband for 32 years of Joyce A. His children are Diane L. (Wray) DeLarme, Cheryl (Leroy) Young and Ginger (Bill) Downing. His stepchildren are the late Beverly Marshall, Linda Marshall (Walt) Dawson, Sally (late husband Mike) Hutchison, the late Joseph C. Marshall, Brenda (Scott) Henwood and Donald P. (Dina) Marshall. He had 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

His siblings are Ralph (Shirley) Jenkins, David (Marilyn) Jenkins, the late Phyllis (Lou) Poteet, the late Marilyn Jenkins, Delores (Norm) Pittman, Patty (Jack) Covert, Judy (Chuck) Martin, the late James (Marylou) Jenkins and the late Betty (Buck) Rodgers. He also is survived by nephews and nieces, and a host of cousins and friends.

JENKINS — Friends of Edward W. Jenkins, who died Friday, June 29, 2012, will be received Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights.Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 409 Sarver Road, Sarver, with the Rev. Emory L. Barnett officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the church.
