Northern lights stun county residents
Butler County residents got a rare gift Friday night, and all they had to do was look up.
The northern lights, normally visible in Alaska and other areas closer to the North Pole, put on a colorful show in the sky starting at about 10 p.m., and many intrepid county residents shared their photos on social media.
Cole Myers took his photos of the surreal celestial event around 11 p.m. at his home in Fairview Township.
Myers said the colors were nearly as vibrant to the naked eye as they were in the pictures on his cellphone.
While he didn’t use any special camera setting, Myers said his phone has an automatic night setting that activates after dark.
