A Butler man was accused of striking and causing extensive injuries to an 8-year-old boy in Summit Township, according to state police.

Dustin A. Kepple, 29, was charged with misdemeanors child endangerment and simple assault and summary harassment after police said they responded to a report of the assault May 20.

Police said Kepple threw the boy on the floor of a vehicle, drug him inside a home on Moran Road, Summit Township, and later struck him.

The boy suffered injuries to his right cheek, left eye and left ear, police said.

Troopers determined the boy’s injuries were consistent with his statement and the statement of another witness.

Kepple’s preliminary hearing is July 16.
