Business owner Mary Ball dies

Mary H. Ball, who owned Mary’s Cake, Candy & Party Supplies for 48 years and formerly owned Bridal Treasures, died Saturday, June 8, at the age of 83.

Ball, of Chicora, owned the cake, candy and party supply store in Bon Aire Plaza in Butler Township and the bridal shop in downtown Butler.

She was a woman of faith and devoted a lot of time to her church, All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She served as a Eucharistic minister, and she was a past president of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers.

In addition, she was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women and a former regent of Court Butler 443 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and she served for many years as CCD coordinator at St. Louis Parish.

She had served on the board of the Mental Health Association in Butler County and was active with the association’s Compeer Friend program. She also enjoyed being a member of the Crimson Chapeau Cuties.

A Mass was held for her Tuesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, and she was buried at West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
