Pickup accident sends man to hospital
SUMMIT TWP — One man was sent to the hospital this morning after he smashed his pickup into the back of a fully loaded dump truck on Route 422.
According to state police, the man was driving a Chevrolet Colorado around 9 a.m. when he rear-ended a dump truck stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Route 422 and East Butler Road, in front of Dollar General.
The dump truck, owned by a local paving company, was full of gravel and had little damage. The Colorado had heavy-front end damage.
Police said the man was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital and then taken by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.
