David and Donna Slagel

David and Donna Slagel of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a Mass, with the Rev. James Salberg as celebrant at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church and a family dinner on April 27.

Slagel married the former Donna Gabel on April 26, 1958, at St. Ursula Church in Allison Park.

They have three children, Lisa Bedford of Redfield, Kan.; Phillip Slagel of Guam; and David Slagel II of Butler; a daughter, Carla Slagel, is deceased.

They also have 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Slagel is retired from the Burroughs Corporation in Pittsburgh, where he worked as a field engineer. He also served in the United States Marine Corps.Mrs. Slagel is a homemaker.The couple are members of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
