Mary E. Roper
Mary E. Roper, 79, of Butler passed away at 12:15 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Donaldsville, Ga., the daughter of the late Lester Lee Mathis and the late Ruth (Griffith) Mathis.
Mary was a member of the former Cornerstone Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, doing cross stitch, cooking, playing bingo and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates play.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy (David) MacDonald of Butler; three sons, Thomas L. Roper of Butler, Michael C. (Carolyn) Roper of West Mifflin and Timothy J. Roper of Rochester, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Martha Sue Howell of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Roper, who died Dec. 12, 2008, and her son, Dennis Roper.
ROPER — Friends of Mary E. Roper, who passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, will be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W.
