Sally Alben
Sally Lou Alben, 85, of Slippery Rock borough, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born in Slippery Rock on Oct. 9, 1939, to James Arthur Allen and Beatrice Stillwagon Allen. She graduated from Slippery Rock Area High School in 1959, and later married Willard Leroy Alben on Sept. 10, 1960.
Sally enjoyed working on word search puzzles. She previously had sold Avon and also worked at the initial Sheetz store in Slippery Rock. She was a former member of Worth Grange and a social member of Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire and Rescue. She was a member of Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock and a former member of Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church in Worth Township. She enjoyed attending country and western and gospel concerts.
Survivors include her husband, Willard, at home; three sons, Daryl L. Alben of Harrisville, Scott A. Alben of Slippery Rock and Brian W. (Tina C.) Alben of Butler; and sister, Jane Dunn of Mercer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Jimmy Dick Allen; and daughter-in-law, Ruth Alben in 2022.
ALBEN — The family of Sally Lou Alben, who died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Mumaw, pastor of Center Presbyterian Church, presiding.
Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
