Firefighters are working to put out a blaze that broke out this morning at a home in Emlenton, Venango County, just north of Butler County. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Authorities believe the fire started just before 6 a.m. in the basement of the house in the 600 block of Center Street.

The Emlenton, Parker, Knox and Seneca volunteer fire departments rushed to the scene and an attack crew quickly made its way into the house.

The firefighters, however, eventually had to retreat and continue to battle the blaze, which spread to the attic, from outside the home.
