Neighbors near the intersection of Dorchester Drive and Reston Court in Seven Fields got a smelly surprise Friday morning, when a pile of steaming trash appeared in the middle of the road.

The action was taken by fire crews in an effort to extinguish a garbage truck fire Friday morning, Oct. 13.

According to dispatchers, a working garbage truck fire was reported around 8:50 a.m.

The garbage truck’s load had to be dumped in the roadway to help extinguish the fire.
