NRA wrong on Altmire
How can the National Rifle Association endorse U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire when no major votes have come to the House floor? He voted for Speaker Nancy Pelosi as one of his first votes as a member of Congress. This vote will ensure that no pro-gun legislation will ever make it to the House floor while he is a member of Congress.
The NRA addresses issues of elections by following an "incumbency rule," meaning that the organization will endorse the incumbent even if the other candidate has a better policy on Second Amendment issues.
In the case of the race for the 4th Congressional District seat, Melissa Hart has a solid record on the Second Amendment, unlike her opponent, Altmire. Hart had a strong record when she was in the Pennsylvania Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.
She was a strong advocate and constant leader on protecting individuals' Second Amendment rights. Hart also worked on behalf of prohibiting the reauthorization of the overreaching and useless assault weapons ban, and supported an end to the District of Columbia's gun ban.
Hart has been a tireless advocate and has worked very hard to defend her constituents' Second Amendment rights.
While the NRA as an organization has overlooked Hart's constant dedication to Second Amendment rights, individual voters should be aware of her strength on the issue and the NRA's bogus incumbency policy.
Hart is exactly the person we need representing the rights of gun owners.
