Monday — Michael John Wallace Scott, 21, of Portersville is accused of reneging on a rental agreement and failing to return a large-screen television he leased last fall from the Rent-A-Center store in Pullman Square.A store salesman told police that Scott on Oct. 16 signed the rental/purchase agreement for the 40-inch TV for $2,663. But the suspect only made two payments, the last one Nov. 7, for a total of $149.The employee said Scott in the last four months has ignored letters and telephone calls from the store and has refused to return the television.Scott is charged with theft of leased property.
10:46 p.m. Thursday — Brandon Geist, 24, of Butler is accused of punching and kicking 36-year-old James Smythe of Butler at Family Bowlaway on Fairground Hill Road. Geist is charged with simple assault and harassment.Grove City Police9:45 p.m. Friday — Michael Marion Slinkard, 21, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, was arrested for allegedly fighting with Grove City College campus safety officersSlinkard is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Michael Anthony Klein, 21, of Pittsburgh was present at the fight and is charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Slinkard and Klein are students at Grove City College.3:30 p.m. Friday — A car driven by a 17-year-old girl, who police did not identify, collided with a truck at West Main Street and Memorial Park Drive. The collision caused the truck, driven by Charles Wentzel III, 37 of Grove City, to rear-end a vehicle driven by William Wigton, 58, of Butler.2:30 a.m. Friday — David J. Hoy, 30, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Princeton Avenue.Friday — Brandon John Seelbaugh, 19, of Grove City was arrested on three bench warrants after police officers received information that he was staying at a local hotel. He was later arraigned on the warrants, two for drug-related offenses and the other for corruption of minors, and placed in Mercer County Jail.2:30 p.m. Feb. 18 — A 16-year-old boy punched a teacher in the face at Grove City High School. The teacher, who police did not identify, suffered minor injuries.The student was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. The youth, who is charged in juvenile court, was later released to the custody of his mother
11:15 p.m. Saturday — Nick C. Rieger, 37, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Wayne and Jackson streets in Butler.2:40 a.m. Thursday — Shawn Groncki, 42, of Petrolia was arrested for suspicion of DUI after police were called to Main Street in Bruin for a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance.Police found the suspect's car parked on the sidewalk. They also found Groncki, who was "out of control and failed to obey (troopers') commands."The suspect was arrested "by necessary physical force," and in addition to DUI is charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
12:36 a.m. Saturday — Cars driven by Gordon E. Magee, 51, of Grove City and Amanda Hartwell, 35, of Mercer collided on Route 62 in Jackson Township. Magee was cited for illegally entering the road.
