It is unfortunate, that in the 21st century, Art Mathers, in his Nov. 11 letter to the editor, describes homosexuality as an “addiction” associated with a “chemical imbalance.”

Labeling homosexuality as a psychiatric disorder is wrong, unscientific and a trademark of religious zealots who seek to impose their religion on others.

Homosexuality is consistent with a perfectly moral life and it’s those like Mathers, who base judgment of people on such non-essential characteristics as sexual orientation, who are practicing immorality and evidencing an addiction of their own — to the dogmatic mysticism contained in religious texts.
