Rock baseball team splits with Gannon
The Slippery Rock University baseball team had to settle for another doubleheader split against Gannon Sunday at Jack Critchfield Park.
After losing 11-6 in the opener and winning the nightcap 7-6 on Saturday, The Rock came back Sunday to rally for a win in the first game, 5-4, only to fall in the final game of the home-and-home weekend doubleheader series, 4-3.
Leadoff hitter and shortstop Will Kengor went 5-for-7 with three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases in the two games on Sunday.
Kyle Schneider got the Game 1 win on the mound for The Rock (20-10 overall, 9-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-West) with a complete-game effort.
He scattered five hits and gave up four runs, two earned.
SRU scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to get the victory, keyed by a fielding error and a RBI single by Jake Nogalo.
