8:35 a.m. Thursday — Someone stole the license plates off two cars owned by Advanced Auto Parts at Pullman Square.The cars were parked in the middle of the store's parking lot overnight. They were not monitored by surveillance cameras.The plate numbers are JLS-9139 and HXY-4663.10:24 a.m. Wednesday — William Nuth reported that someone keyed his car while it was parked in front of his Third Street home. The vandal scratched an offensive message in the side of his Pontiac Grand Am.

5:48 p.m. Tuesday — Brandy L. Williams, 24, of Chicora was caught allegedly stealing merchandise from Walmart in Butler Commons. Williams is charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property.

9:30 p.m. Wednesday — A thief stole a Compaq laptop computer and hunting knife from a 24-year-old West Virginia man's car at the Pilot convenience store on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township.

Monday — Joshua James Fair, 24, of Emlenton was arrested on charges that he and an accomplice stole scrap metal from a Scrubgrass Township business last month.Fair and Valerie R. Townsend, 18, of Parker, are accused of stealing the property March 28 or 29 at Snyder Brothers Garage on Emlenton Clintonville Road.Fair was arraigned on charges of theft and receiving stolen property and placed in the Venango County Jail on $5,000 bail. He also is being held on a probation violation.Townsend was charged by summons with theft and receiving stolen property.

6:27 p.m. Thursday — Erika Lynn Celestin, no age given, of Saxonburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 in East Deer Township, Allegheny County.Wednesday — A would-be burglar tried to force in the back door of a home in the 300 block of Lafferty Road in West Franklin Township. When the suspect failed to get into the house, he left. The attempted break-in happened between 4 and 9 p.m.
