Tourist bureau adds 'Pa.' to logo

Move is designed to prevent confusion

CRANBERRY TWP — The Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau soon will roll out a new logo to clarify which Butler County it represents.

Paula Slomer, marketing and media manager for the bureau, said at a bureau board meeting Thursday that there are at least seven other Butler counties across the country, most notably one in Ohio.

She said there’s often confusion from out-of-towners in terms of which Butler County the tourism board represents. That’s why the new logo will add “Pa.” to the end of Butler County to designate the state.

“This has been a big issue for us,” Slomer said.

Slomer said the new logo won’t replace the old one but that both will be used in different advertising or promotional material.

However, she added there will be a “soft launch” with the logo, which won’t be fully rolled out until January.

“I’m really excited with where we’re going with it,” she said.

Amy Pack, director of tourism development for the bureau, said she welcomes the new logo. She said she’s been to several conventions where organizers confuse the bureau with others nationwide.

The new logo and branding should help assuage some of those issues, she said.

In other business, the board selected a new meeting site at the Regional Learning Center in Cranberry Woods because of the cramped quarters at the bureau’s offices in Zelienople.

The bureau meets the third Thursday each month, usually at 9 a.m.

The bureau also has increased its board to 13 members. The latest addition is Justin Griffith, chief executive officer of the RLA.
