Knoch track cruises to section title

Rachel Kroneberg won the shot put and the discus and Nicole Cress captured first place in both the 100 and 200 to help the Knoch girls track and field team to a 91-58 win over Hampton.

The victory wrapped up a section title for Knoch (6-0) — its third in the 39-year history of the program and first since 2010.

“We have a nice bunch of girls who really came together and got the job done,” said Knoch boys and girls track coach Wess Brahler. “It’s pretty exciting.”

Knoch’s first section championship came in 1992.

The Knights have qualified for the WPIAL team playoffs, which begin next week.

The Knoch boys also beat Hampton 110-40 and will participate in the team playoffs.

“We have some great kids at Knoch,” Brahler said.
