'Opposites Attract' in Aquaettes spring show

The Butler High Aquaettes will present “Opposites Attract” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Butler Senior High School pool.

Aquaettes is a synchronized swimming group in which the swimmers perform choreographed maneuvers to music.

“Opposites Attract” will consist of 20 numbers or routines from various levels of Aquaettes.

All music for the show has been selected with the theme of featuring opposites, such as love and hate, up and down, and fast and slow. The opening number will feature the song “Light” by Ellie Goulding.

There are seven seniors in the group: Shania Barnhart, Becca Bauer, Natalie Compton, Christen Davis, Angelina Diaz, Halie Jackman and Julie Worst. They will perform to the song “Brave” by Sara Bareilles.

There are 18 girls altogether on the team ranging from freshman to senior. They have been practicing five days a week for 1½ to 2 hours a day since January for this show.

There also are five Aquastuds, boys from the high school who have volunteered to work with the Aquaettes this past month.

The Aquastuds will perform several lifts in a coed number as well as help with other routines and skits throughout the show.

Aquaette director is Dacia Como.

Tickets are $5 at the door.
