Anthony C. “Tony” Green, 86, of Butler passed away Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born on March 11, 1928, in Butler, he was a son of the late Norbert P. Green and Clara B. (Kuhn) Green.

Tony worked at the Pullman Standard Car Co. in Butler for 36 years where, during that time, he only missed one day of work, retiring when the plant closed in 1981. Following his parents' deaths, he operated his family farm, where he always made homemade wines.

He was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, where he had been an usher since age 18 and had been in charge of St. Mary's Card Parties on Tuesday nights for more than 25 years.

He was a charter member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the American Legion Post 117 and the Knights of Columbus Butler Council 866.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army.

Surviving is his wife, Rose Marie (Tatsak) Green, who he married on July 13, 1957; his three daughters, Sharon L. Snyder of Butler, Carol A. (Lt. Col. R. Scott, U.S. Air Force) Medley of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Lynn (John) Oswald of Butler; his five grandsons, Evan, Kyle and Derek Oswald, and Nicholas and Jacob Medley; his two brothers, Gerard (Cathy) Green and Regis (Patty) Green, all of Butler; his sister, Grace Kriley of Butler; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters and his six brothers.

Green— The friends of Anthony C. “Tony” Green, who passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
