Grant sought for rink lights
CRANBERRY TWP — The board of supervisors has applied for a $147,000 grant for lighting at a new Dek hockey rink in Graham Park.
The township is teaming up with the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation to build the rink here, the first one the foundation plans on building outside of Allegheny County.
Crews broke ground in June. The rink is expected to be open and ready for use by October.
Project contributions include $1.5 million from Highmark and $800,000 by the Penguins Foundation.
Pete Geis, director of the township’s parks and recreation department, has said he expects more than 300 people to use the rink by the end of the year.
