Appropriate honor
The city’s monument dedication for deceased Marine Pfc. Paul E. Angert was extremely well coordinated by Councilman William May. It was a first-class presentation at noon Aug. 13 in Rotary Park.
Angert was killed April 1970 in Vietnam. The original monument at the former Island Playground was damaged and could not be moved to a new location.
Retired Marine Sgt. Maj. Sam Zurzolo coordinated the military honor guard, the labor of procuring and installing the stone monument, all the cement work and installation of a beautiful stainless flagpole.
Justin Ellis, an Eagle Scout candidate, took this on as his Eagle project.
Thanks to all the Butler County veterans who honorably participated.
