Margaret M. Spina Barbati

Margaret M. Spina Barbati, 92, of Butler passed away Saturday.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Michael and Teresa Marchiano Spina.

Margaret was a member of the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Parish, Butler.

A graduate of Butler Business College, she went on to work at the Spaide Shirt factory as a secretary. Margaret also worked at the Bantam car factory, and she sold cemetery monuments for Schaffer Monuments and Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.

She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Dero and her husband, Francis, of Butler, and Diane Weintraub and her husband, Andrew, of Palm Harbor, Fla., and her son, John A. Barbati Jr. of Butler.

Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Todd Dero, Tricia Schofield and her husband, Brian, John William Barbati and his wife, Kelly, Brian Barbati, Michael Weintraub and Derek Weintraub, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Cameron Dero, Colton Dero, Landon Schofield and Malayna Schofield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Barbati Sr., who passed away on Sept. 16, 2000; her three brothers, Carmen Michael Spina M.D., Frank Spina and Samuel Spina D.D.S.; and her sister, Ellen Lee Rubino.

Spina Barbati, who passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in theMartin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Parish, 432 Center Ave., Butler.
