Park officials ID woman who died in fall
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — Authorities have released the name of the Butler County woman killed Wednesday evening when she fell near Breakneck Bridge at McConnells Mill State Park.
Cheryl Goebel, 58, of Cranberry Township died in the 20-foot fall. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was to be conducted this afternoon, according to the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.
Goebel was with her husband, Ronald Goebel, sight seeing at the park about 7 p.m. when she dropped her camera while standing on the bridge that spans Cheeseman Run.
Park officials said that she climbed over the bridge railing and onto a rocky ledge to get the camera and she fell.
