Piedimonte

SAXONBURG — Brayman Construction, a heavy civil and geotechnical contractor, has promoted Frank Piedimonte to president and chief operating officer.

Piedimonte has been with Brayman since 2004 when he joined as a senior project manager. In 2009 he was promoted to vice president and in 2011 to executive vice president of the heavy civil division.

While at Brayman, Piedimonte has been in charge of many major construction projects in the region. He led the Trumbull-Brayman $97 million joint venture at Charleroi Lock and Dam, the Freeport Bridge reconstruction project for $63 million, the Ironton-Russell cable stay bridge over the Ohio River for $83 million and currently is in charge of the $64 million Hulton Bridge replacement in Oakmont.

Before joining Brayman, Piedimonte was regional manager for IA Construction Corp.

Piedimonte, who is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, lives in Cranberry Township with his wife and two sons.

The Mental Health Association in Butler County will get a $1,000 donation because of Don Best of the Best Insurance Agency, 340 S. Main St.Best received The Allstate Foundation's Agency Hands in the Community grant award for his volunteerism.The grant program recognizes Encompass insurance agents for outstanding community service with a $1,000 donation to a charitable organization. Encompass is part of the Allstate group.Best is a volunteer for the association, which will use the funds to continue its efforts to reduce the stigma of mental illness and advocate for those suffering with these illnesses.

CRANBERRY TWP — MSA Safety earned two New Product-of-the-Year awards from Occupational Health & Safety magazine, a national publication.The products were the Fas-Trac III Suspension for MSA's line of protective helmets and the ALTAIR 2XP gas detector.The recognition program attracted more than 60 products in 22 categories.

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — The Western PA Insurance Professionals agency will celebrate its move to 665 Evans City Road, Butler, with a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1.The agency is in the Honda North dealership.Brian Abels and Nikkisha Wright are the agents for the Farmers Insurance agency. Abels said housing an agency inside an auto dealership is a new concept for Farmers.

OAKLAND TWP — Randy & Bob's CARSTAR Autobody on Sept. 20 hosted a Soaps It Up! car wash, which raised nearly $2,200.Proceeds were divided equally between Make-A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia and the Karns City Gremlin football program, which is raising money for new equipment.Volunteers from the football program and Randy & Bob's employees cleaned 86 vehicles in four hours.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — General Electric on Friday reported third-quarter net income of $3.54 billion.The Fairfield, Conn.-based company said it had profit of 35 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 38 cents per share.The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 37 cents per share.The industrial conglomerate posted revenue of $36.17 billion in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Analysts expected $36.99 billion, according to Zacks.

• Terri Liberto of Sarver, a La Roche College assistant professor of nursing, in October received the Nurse's Touch Award from the Assessment Technologies Institute. Liberto was one of four educators nationwide to receive the award, which recognizes her integration of professional and interpersonal skills into her nursing practice and the education of students.• The Tri-County Workforce Investment Board presented Emily Nulph with its STEP award, which recognizes a person who has excelled through its STEPS Success Program.Nulph started working with the Career T.R.A.C.K. program in September 2013 as a Knoch High School senior in the welding program at Butler County Vocational-Technical School.She gained work experience through Cygnus Manufacturing in Clinton Township.Nulph completed the in-school youth program in April. Now she is working full time at Cygnus.
