Lyndora man allegedly pulls knife on neighbor

Men tussle before victim gets away

BUTLER TWP — A Lyndora man was arrested Sunday night after chasing a neighbor with a knife, police said.

Jacob A. Martinez, 35, accused the other man of being a police snitch, according to court documents. The victim managed to get away and no injuries were reported.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton later arraigned Martinez on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and public drunkenness.

The defendant was placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail following arraignment.

The altercation began shortly after 9 p.m. when Martinez asked the 38-year-old victim to stop by his house on Bessemer Avenue, Butler Township police said.

“Martinez accused (his neighbor) of being a snitch,” a police affidavit said. The other man, however, told authorities that he didn’t know what the defendant was talking about.

Moments later, documents said, the suspect pulled out a knife and began to chase the victim.

The two men tussled on Martinez’s porch before the victim managed to run away, losing a boot in the getaway.

Officers went to Martinez’s house.

The door was ajar but no one was inside. Police said they looked through the front window and noticed a large sheath for a knife on the coffee table, documents said

A short time later, police spotted the defendant walking on Bessemer Avenue and took him into custody.

While being placed in the police car, he yelled at the victim, “Wait till I get out,” documents said.

Martinez was taken to the police station where he accused the victim of being a snitch for police.
