Makara Smocer of Cranberry Township won the girls varsity race for St. Teresa of Avila at the Greater Pittsburgh Diocese Catholic Grade School Cross Country Championships.

The event was held Saturday at Cooper’s Lake.

Smocer, an eighth-grader, won the race in 12 minutes, 35 seconds.

Tara Lucot of Cranberry Township, a sixth-grader at Saint Alexis in Wexford, won the junior varsity girls race in 12:20.
