ESB Bank bought out by WesBanco
A West Virginia bank has is buying ESB Bank, which has branches in Butler County, for $324 million.
WesBanco Inc. has 120 branches in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. ESB Financial Corporation, with its headquarters in Ellwood City, has 23 branches in Butler, Allegheny, Lawrence and Beaver counties.
According to the WesBanco website, the company has been looking to further expand in the Pittsburgh region, and acquiring ESB will give WesBanco a larger presence in the area.
The merger is expected to be completed in the first half of 2015.
WesBanco is based in Wheeling, W.Va.
