Infiniti showroom opens in Wexford

Rob Cochran, left, president and CEO of No. 1 Cochran, is presented a plaque Monday night commemorating 25 years of selling Infinitis by Jeff Harris, Infiniti executive.

PINE TWP, Allegheny County — Twenty-five years after Rob Cochran opened one of the first 51 Infiniti dealerships in the North America, he celebrated the opening of two more.

Cochran, president and CEO of No. 1 Cochran, was joined by Infiniti executive Jeff Harris on Monday night to cut the ribbon at the new Infiniti showroom on Route 19 in Wexford.

“It’s so wonderful to be in Wexford selling Infinitis,” Cochran said.

The Wexford dealership had been in Monroeville, Allegheny County, since 1989 before moving this year. It is next to Cochran Volkswagen of North Hills dealership, which is the former home of Cochran Mazda.

Earlier in the day, Cochran cut the ribbon on the new South Hills Infiniti dealership in Dormont, Allegheny County.

The decision to relocate the Monroeville dealership to Wexford was motivated in part by demographics, Cochran said.

“The growth and demographics of Infiniti customers is matched to the people living around the Wexford area,” he said.

Harris, the regional vice president of the Infiniti East region for Nissan North America, presented Cochran with a plaque commemorating 25 years of selling Infinitis.

“A partner like Rob is really special,” he said.

Infiniti, the luxury brand of Japanese automaker Nissan, debuted in 1989, when 51 dealerships were opened in North America.

Today, there are more than 250 locations.

The new building in Wexford has 17,500 square feet and employs about 45 people.

The construction took about one year, wrapping up before Thanksgiving, Cochran said.

The show room has curved glass from floor to ceiling, which brings in natural light and was designed to look and feel like an art gallery, he said.

No. 1 Cochran now operates 21 dealerships in the region selling 16 brands. It employs more than 850 people.
