Father of modern baseball card dies
NEW YORK — Sy Berger, who designed Topps baseball trading cards in the 1950s died Sunday in Rockville Centre, N.Y., said his daughter, Maxine Berger-Bienstock. He was 91.
Berger played around with ideas until he struck upon a design with a team logo and simulated player autograph on the front and bio and stats on the back.
