IN BRIEF

Bar’s work with vets recognized

LANCASTER — The Butler County Bar Association has been recognized for its work to save veterans from prosecution and move them toward treatment.

Recognition of the Butler County Veterans Treatment Court came from the Pennsylvania Bar Association during that body’s annual meeting.

The program in Butler works by having a panel select a veteran who, instead of being sentenced to prison, is prescribed a series of mandated programs or therapies at VA Butler Healthcare and a peer mentor.

Vogel to open satellite office

ZELIENOPLE — Starting Thursday, state Senator Elder Vogel, R-47th, will staff a part-time satellite office in the borough.

That office will be open every Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau building, 310 E. Grandview Ave. The phone number is 724-656-3284.

Visitors to the office can access the same services that are available at Vogel’s Rochester and New Castle district offices.

State Rep. Jim Marshall, R-14th, also has a satellite office at the same Zelienople location from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays.
