Sing Hosanna! opens ‘Oliver!’

Sing Hosanna! is presenting the musical “Oliver!”Friday through Sunday at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College.

Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Friday with matinees at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are $15 for those age 11 and older and $10 for those 10 and younger. Tickets are available at May’s Music Shoppe.

BC3 gallery hosts paintings

The Mary Hulton Phillips Gallery at Butler County Community College will host the exhibit “Paintings by Bill Brunken” starting Wednesday and continuing through May 5.

An opening reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the gallery on the main campus.

Brunken has been an artist and painter for more than 20 years and has worked as an art professional for the last 17 years. He worked at the Concept Gallery in Pittsburgh from 2007 to 2014 and at the Andy Warhol Museum from 2004 to 2007.

Symphony ends season

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will wrap up its 2014-15 season with a concert April 11.

“Celebrate Butler County” will feature pianist Nanette Solomon, the Slippery Rock University Concert Choir, and the Collegiate Young Artist Competition winnerat 7:30 p.m. in Butler Intermediate High School’s auditorium.

Tickets are available at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St., at showclix.com or at the door. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students, plus handling fees. For more information, call 724-283-1402.

Cranfest set April 11

CRANBERRY TWP — Cranfest, combining a look at the services offered by the township and a brand-new folk and food festival, is planned for April 11.

Admission is free.

Hours are noon to 5 p.m. at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road.

Very Special Arts shown

GROVE CITY — Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV has teamed up with the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and the Citrone Fund to present the 26th annual Very Special Arts exhibit.

From April 8 to 17, the Pew Fine Arts gallery at Grove City College will be filled with pieces of art created by students with special needs from school districts in Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer counties.

Participating artists will receive a medal custom made by Wendell August Forge and a backpack loaded with art supplies.

A reception will be from noon to 4 p.m. April 12.

The exhibit showcases the artwork of nearly 700 students with special needs in kindergarten through 12th grade from 37 schools in 20 school districts including the three vocational schools.

Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free.
