Sylvia Elaine (Harbison) Phillips, 70, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away Sunday at Tri County Extended Care in Fairfield.

Born Dec. 3, 1944, in Natrona Heights, Pa., she was the daughter of Howard and Helen A. (Livingston) Harbison.

Sylvia was a 1962 graduate of Freeport High School.

She worked for the Treasury Department in 1963 and 1964.

Sylvia was a very loving and giving person. She was always finding a way to serve, comfort or congratulate those in triumph or tribulation. Her greatest love was for all of her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Sylvia cared deeply for animals and the world around her. She loved to travel. Her favorite place to be was on a beach near the sound of crashing waves and the smell of the salt air.

Surviving are her husband, Dean Phillips, who she married Aug. 20, 1966; two sons, Arron D. (Deborah) Phillips of Magnolia, Texas, and Jason M. Phillips of York, Pa.; three granddaughters, Addison, Avery and Ashley Phillips of Magnolia, Texas; her mother of Sarver; three sisters, Mary Ann Nemchick of Valencia, Helen (Donald, Sr.) Hortert of Butler and Marla (Richard) Hackett of Mayer, Ariz.; and her brother, Ronald (Lori) Harbison of Jamestown, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Harbison.

PHILLIPS — Friends of Sylvia Elaine (Harbison) Phillips, who died Sunday, April 19, 2015, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
