William Clouse

Clouse

William (Bill) Walter Clouse, 75, of Acampo, Calif., formerly of West Sunbury and Alexandria, Pa., passed away April 18 at Lodi Memorial Hospital in Lodi, Cal.

He was born Aug. 4, 1939, to the late Walter William and Mary Ethyl (Stewart) Clouse in Pittsburgh. He was married to the former Mona Lisa Stone Nov. 28, 1958.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mona; five children: William (Bill) of Sunnyvale, Calif., Jana Grose of Massena, N.Y., Richard of Sunnyvale, Calif., Lisa Carper of Alexandria, Pa., and Patti and her husband Matt Sargood of Millsap, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Chad and Zachary Hamor, Kendra Grose, Ashley Carper Llewellwyn, Sean Carper, Nicholas, Olivia Clouse Schmitz, James and Monalisa Clouse, Cameron, Stephanie and Tori Sargood; three great-grandchildren, Mariana Hamor, Reese Llewellyn and Lucas Carper; one sister, Jane Clouse Allen of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberlie Ann; one son, James Edward; and two sisters, Mary Ann Hiwiller and Ruth Lynn Clouse.

Bill graduated from Moniteau High School in 1957. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education with a minor in General Science and Social Studies in 1962 from Slippery Rock State College, where he played football, basketball and baseball.

He began his teaching and coaching career at Johnsonburg High School and then moved in 1966 to Huntingdon County, where he taught physical education and health education at Juniata Valley Junior/Senior High School in Alexandria until his retirement in December 1994.

While at Juniata Valley, he coached football, wrestling, track and field, weight training and helped with the Alexandria Eagles Pee Wee football team. He led the Hornets to two PIAA District 6-A Championships in 1986 and 1987 and was named the MidState Football Classic assistant coach in 1986 and head coach in 1987. He was inducted into the Central Pennsylvania Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Huntingdon County Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and grandchildren. In his earlier years, he enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and all types of athletics in both Huntingdon and Butler counties.After retiring from Juniata Valley, he returned to his high school alma mater as head football coach for the Moniteau Warriors for two years.He enjoyed golf trips with his friends and family and traveling in his RV to visit his children and grandchildren in New York, Texas, Arizona, California and Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed supporting his favorite Pennsylvania teams, the Steelers, Pirates and Nittany Lions, especially while traveling in sometimes not so friendly rival territories.Bill was deeply loved and will be sorrowfully missed.CLOUSE — A celebration of life service for William (Bill) Walter Clouse, who died Saturday, April 18, 2015, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on May 9 at Edgewater Inn & Riverside Grill in Alexandria, Pa. Committal will be private.
