Morning crash kills driver in Armstrong County
RAYBURN TWP, Armstrong County — A 56-year-old Templeton man was killed early this morning in a one-vehicle crash in central Armstrong County, state police said.
Robert A. Morrow was traveling south on River Road shortly before 12:50 a.m. when he lost control of his 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck. Speed was likely a factor in the wreck about three miles north of Kittanning, investigators said.
The truck went off the east berm and slammed into a utility pole, police said. After hitting the pole, the pickup struck one embankment and then a second one before rolling over, landing on its wheels.
Morrow was not wearing a seat belt. Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers pronounced him dead at 1:30 a.m.
Morrow died of severe injuries to the head, chest and stomach.
The road was reopened to traffic about 3:30 a.m.
