QUESTION: Why are you running for office?

ROBB: I am running for re-election because I want to build upon the good work we have accomplished in the township over the past 11 years ensuring our community has controlled growth while protecting our farms and landowners’ interests. During my time as supervisor, I have worked with community members to establish a community park, replace several bridges, repair roads and strengthen our community library, all while maintaining Winfield as a low-tax township.

QUESTION: What do you consider the most pressing matters facing your municipality?

ROBB: The most pressing matter facing our township is the rising cost of road repair and maintenance. Over the past 10 years, road repair and maintenance costs have increased fourfold. In the early 2000s, one mile of road resurfacing cost approximately $30,000. Now the same mile of road costs approximately $120,000. We have several miles of dirt roads that need addressed as well. Additionally, road repair necessitates adequate staffing of our road crew and reliable equipment.

QUESTION: How would you address them?

ROBB: Because we have a comprehensive township plan and are developing a five-year road plan, we can use those documents to help us pursue infrastructure grants. Additionally, I attend various meetings with county directors which educate the township regarding possible state funding. For example, we are currently applying for over $100,000 through the Community Development Block Grant to replace a bridge in the township at no direct cost to our residents.
