No injuries in I-79 rollover crash

MUDDYCREEK TWP — No injuries were reported in a rollover crash that police say was caused by rain on Interstate 79 Saturday.

The accident occurred shortly after 1:20 p.m. at mile-marker 98.6 south, near the Butler/New Castle exit.

State police on the scene said the cause of the crash was rainy conditions, as the driver encountered wet roadways, hydroplaned and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then crossed the other southbound lane, hit an embankment and rolled several times before coming to rest back on its tires.

The vehicle was towed and police said the driver would be cited for driving too fast for conditions.

No further information was available at the scene.
