Love is ...

First-grade students at McQuistion Elementary School shared their themes on “Love is....”

Expressions of love are as different as the people who receive or give them.

Nancy Jo Braun, a first grade teacher at McQuistion Elementary School, shares what her students recognize as love.

Love is …

… when mom gives me an ice cream cone for scooping the litter box for her. Love is when my mom picks me up after school too.

Deacon Martin… when I help mom scrub the bathtub, but she still cleans the potty. It is also when mom and dad told me I was having a new baby brother, Thomas.

Chloe Giordon… when my mom makes me macaroni and cheese, my favorite. Also love is when we all go to the Purple Park to play. It is when my sister lets me pick the game to play for a change.

Ariel Free… when my sister Marlee helps me with my chores cleaning dishes and lets me borrow her big tshirts. It is when my family takes our dogs to the park and we all play tag.

Myanna West… when my big brother lets me win on a game. That’s pretty cool. It’s when my mom and dad cheer really loud for me at my hockey games. I love mom when I help her clean up.

Sean Roskovski… when my friend Merrick and me share our Legos together. I like to help with the family chores so they don’t have to do it all.

Abel Orwig… when my four-year-old brother, Luke, helps me clean my room. Love is when my mom makes my favorite hamburgers. Love is when dad comes home from his job and I ask him “how’s your work” and he says “good.” My parents love me even when I do something not perfect.

Lily Orton… when my mom and dad give me a kiss goodnight.

Silas Bouse… when my mom says I don’t have to clean my room tonight.

Jacob Francis… when I help mom clean the dishes and the windows. I think it’s fun!

Gunner Mainhart… when every night mom tucks me in, gives me a kiss and says “I love you! Sleep tight.”

Carly Dorenkamp… when my mom gets my favorite snacks for me. It’s when my mom tucks me in at bedtime and says “goodnight, sweet dreams, don’t let the bed bugs bite.”
