I wanted to reply to a recent letter from Linda Bishop. The American Rescue Act is one of the most money-wasting government acts I have seen.

Here’s the problem. I saw that recently a mother was using the $300, not for the child, but to stick the child in day care, so she didn’t have to take care of him.

Ms. Bishop also seems to think that the money is free.

The $6 billion she is talking about is paid for by people like me, who want to work, have jobs and pay taxes.

The economy is booming. This free money was not needed.

Tax collections will be way up and help is there.

I am most definitely in favor of helping those in need.

Kudos to Mike Kelly for voting against the free money.

Ms. Bishop, you say that the Act will cut child poverty and hunger in half. Quote your source. Show me some proof.

I resent the fact that Ms. Bishop thinks Republicans are not willing to help. What we are not willing to do is throw money away, and reward some people who do not want to work, don’t have jobs and don’t pay taxes.

That, my friends, is socialism.
