Home runs power Karns City to victory

Josh Smith hit a grand slam and David Black hit a two-run homer in a 10-run first inning as the Karns City baseball team routed Clarion-Limestone 10-4 Thursday.

The outburst helped Tyler Callihan cruise to win the win, striking out six in five innings.

Luke Westerman doubled, singled, drove in a run and scored two more as Freeport outlasted Burrell 10-6.

Butler 3, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 2 -Chris Erdos had 23 points, 16 kills and 14 passes to help the Tornado win the final two sets in a 27-25, 20-25, 28-30, 25-17, 15-12 victory.Ricky Gonzalez had four blocks and Shawn Vincent 14 assists for Butler.The junior varsity split its two sets with OLSH.Butler (3-4, 2-3) will play at Farrell Tuesday.

Julie Quail scored four goals as the Seneca Valley lacrosse team nipped North Allegheny 9-6 Thursday.Mandy Hajduk and Erin Bernhard each scored two goals, and Pam Marlowe also scored for the Raiders (3-0-1).
