Slippery Rock University softball standouts Niki Banner and Shannon Tagliaferri were named first team All-PSAC West by the league's coaches.
Tagliaferri, a sophomore outfielder-pitcher, led The Rock with a .327 batting average. She had seven doubles and five homers. As a pitcher, she was 1-2 with a 5.19 earned run average.
Banner, a sophomore infielder-catcher, hit .308 with a team-leading 10 doubles and two homers. She had 16 RBI and 32 hits.
SRU was 15-27 overall, 4-16 in PSAC West play this season under first-year coach Vashion Johnson.
Three Butler County graduates who are now members of the Clarion University women's track and field team will be participating in this week's PSAC meet at Slippery Rock University.Karns City graduate and Clarion senior Carrie Bullman is a two-time national qualifier in the javelin and finished third at the PSAC meet last year.Knoch graduate and Clarion senior Jessica Crouch finished 13th at the PSAC meet last year and was an NCAA qualifier. Moniteau graduate and Clarion junior Sarah Rodgers qualified for the PSAC meet in the 1,500 meters.The meet runs Thursday through Saturday.
