DENVER - American sprinter Kelli White accepted a two-year drug ban, costing her a trip to the Athens Olympics and every medal she won during the past four years.White tested positive for the stimulant modafinil at last year's world championships and U.S. nationals. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said it also found evidence she used undetectable steroids and the endurance-enhancing hormone erythropoietin.The USADA, based in nearby Colorado Springs, said some evidence was obtained through documents from the federal investigation into BALCO.White will be stripped of her gold medals in the 100 and 200 meters at last year's world championships in Paris, and a gold and bronze at the 2001 worlds in Edmonton.

CHICAGO - The Chicago Blackhawks signed coach Brian Sutter to a one-year contract extension.The Blackhawks went 20-43-11-8 this season and finished last in the Western Conference. Their 20 wins were the fewest in the NHL, and the lowest total by the Blackhawks since the 1956-57 team won 16. Chicago also had a franchise-record 19-game losing streak.Sutter is 451-422-140-15 with eight playoff appearances in 13 years as an NHL coach with the Blackhawks, St. Louis, Boston and Calgary.

CHICAGO - Sammy Sosa was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained ligament in his lower back, an ailment that was brought on by two violent sneezes Sunday in San Diego.Sosa, batting .291 with 10 homers and 24 RBIs, is on the DL for the fifth time in his 16-year career.

CLEVELAND - The Indians acquired pitcher Andrew Brown, completing last month's trade that sent outfielder Milton Bradley to the Los Angeles Dodgers.On April 4, Cleveland traded the troubled but talented Bradley to the Dodgers for minor league outfielder Franklin Gutierrez and a player to be named - who is Brown.Brown, 23, went 1-3 with a 4.02 ERA in eight starts for Double-A Jacksonville. He led the Southern League with 58 strikeouts.
