Mike Miller of Chicora won the modified and super modified divisions of lawnmower racing Sunday at Shade Tree Speedway.

Other winners were Steve Ace of Parker in stocks, Matt Thompson of Ellwood City in outlaw stock, Nick Kurzi of Butler in kart and Dwayne Shingledecker of North Apollo in quad.

The Northern Steel Soccer Club of Butler won three state titles over the weekend at the Pennsylvania Premier Alliance State Championship Tournament at California (Pa.) University.The under-13 boys Phantoms defeated the Erie Admirals, 2-0, in a state title game. Northern Steel's under-14 girls Arsenal won a 1-0 decision for their second straight state title.The under-15 girls Blue Devils defeated the North Stars, 2-1, in the state finals.The under-15 boys Spitfires lost a 2-0 decision to Century United in the state finals. The under-14 boys, under-16 girls, under-17 boys and under-17 girls also represented Northern Steel in the tournament.

The Butler Junior Tennis Association suffered a 13-11 loss to Allegheny Country Club in its West Penn League opener recently.Winning doubles teams for Butler were Maggie McGinnis and Melanie Ward, Will Nesbitt and Patrick Fitz, Sam Morrison and Rosel Nesbitt, Ben Morrison and Jeannine Hollobaugh.Winning singles matches were Fitz, Nesbitt, Sam and Ben Morrison, Nesbitt, Hollobaugh and Heather Santa.Butler Junior Tennis faces Butler Country Club in league play Friday.
