Butler graduate Mike Menchyk, a junior on the Slippery Rock University hockey team, was named a Division I Academic All-American by the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

Menchyk is majoring in secondary social studies education.

Michael Hootman of Butler carded a 76-73-149 in finishing second at the 84th West Penn Golf Association Junior Championship Monday at Buffalo Valley Country Club.William Miller of McMurray won the event with a 72-73-145. Cameron Peterson of Grove City carded a 75-78-153 to finished eighth.

John Aubrey Sr. and John Aubrey Jr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course in Butler won their respective divisions recently at the Tam O'Shanter Open.The elder Aubrey won the senior event with a 37-35-72 while his son tied for first with Rob Voltz in the amateur event, carding a 35-35-70.

Lauren Torso, 17, of Zelienople carded a 47-45-92 to win the girls age 17-and-18 division of the Kings Pepsi Tri-State PGA Junior Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Meadville Monday.
