HARRISBURG - Hunting and furtaker licenses in the state go on sale July 1.

This year they are available through The Outdoor Shop on the Game Commission web site (www.pgc.state.pa.us), as well as from the nearly 850 issuing agents around the state

All fees are the same as last year.

New this year is the resident military personnel hunting license, which sells for $2.

This license, which is available from the Game Commission headquarters in Harrisburg, region offices or county treasurers' offices, offers state residents who are on active duty with the military all of the same hunting privileges of a general hunting license.

To qualify for this license, an individual must be a state resident in the U.S. Armed Forces assigned to a facility outside of the state and on temporary leave within the state.

Elk license applications will be accepted by the Game Commission until Aug. 27. Applications submitted through The Outdoor Shop will be accepted until Sept. 10.

The public drawing to award the elk licenses will be Sept. 25.

Grove City College is adding Richard Manley and Travis Young to its Men's Soccer Hall of Fame during Homecoming Weekend Oct. 9.Manley was the Wolverines' goalkeeper from 1963-66 and helped the team to a 30-4-2 record, including two unbeaten seasons. He had a 0.7 goals-against average and earned an invitation to the 1967 U.S. Pan American team.Young earned two letters as a fullback and helped the Wolverines accumulate a 23-7-1 record from 1955-58. He captained the 1958 team that ended Oberlin's 56-match unbeaten streak.

Recently graduated Grove City College softball second baseman-pitcher Allison Atwood has earned Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference South Region second-team recognition.Atwood led the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a .473 batting average. She was the league's Co-Pitcher of the Year, going 9-5 with two saves and a 1.08 earned run average.
