Cora V. Yockey

Cora V. Yockey, 68, of 248 Home Ave., Butler Township, died at 7:22 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 14, 1935 in Butler, she was a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Willis Groves.

Mrs. Yockey was a self-employed beautician. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for 28 years.

She also worked for the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home as a hairdresser since the 1970s.

Mrs. Yockey was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was active.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Yockey Sr., whom she married June 24, 1961.

Also surviving are three sons, Russell Yockey Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann, Randall Yockey and his wife, Sara-Jean, and Ronald Yockey and his wife, Jill, all of Butler; five grandchildren, Katlyn, Kelly, Evin, Michael and Curtis; a brother, Leroy Groves and his wife, Bernyce, of Butler; four sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Ruth) Ward, Mrs. James (Mary) Ward, Mrs. William (Jean) Flatt and Mrs. Fred (Joan) Thompson, all of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.

YOCKEY - Friends of Cora V. Yockey, who died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday atTHOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Maitland, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Haven Memorial Park, Worthington.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her church, the First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., Butler, PA 16001.
