Rev. Charles E. Focht

The Rev. Charles E. Focht, 65, of Carlisle went to be with his Lord and Saviour Sunday morning while at home in the presence of his family. He fought the good fight, he finished the course, he kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7).

Born Jan. 1, 1939, in Philadelphia, he was the son of Evore Gittens and Virginia Robinson Focht.

He attended Germantown High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps. He attended the Elohim Bible Institute in New York and the Tabernacle Baptist College in South Carolina and earned a bachelor's degree in religion from Northwestern College in Iowa.

He pastored at Tylersport Chapel in Montgomery County and Meridian Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Rev. Focht participated in wheelchair athletics for more than two decades; served on numerous U.S. teams, including the U.S. Paralympic Team to the 1992 Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain.

He attended Boiling Springs Bible Chapel.

Surviving are his mother of Warminster, Bucks County; his wife of 44 years, Margaret Flick Focht; two sons, Mark Focht of Mt. Gretna and Mike Focht of Titusville, Fla.; three daughters, Diana Focht of Enola, Debbie Ree and her husband, John, of Shermans Dale, and Amy Gross and her husband, Brian, of Middletown; and six grandchildren, Philip, Christie, Samuel, and Anna, all of Shermans Dale, and Matthew and Mitchell, both of Middletown. Three brothers and two sisters also survive.

His father preceded him in death.

- There will be no visitation. A memorial service for the Rev. Charles E. Focht, who died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Boiling Springs Bible Chapel, Fourth Street, Boiling Springs, with Edward Bailey officiating. A graveside service and burial will be Thursday at Union Cemetery, Shelocta.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, P.O.
