Butler County Community College won its third consecutive Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association women's volleyball championship over the weekend, defeating Delaware County Community College, 3-0.

The Pioneers won the match 30-26, 30-22, 30-16 to increase their winning streak to 19.

Autumn Burke had 16 kills for BC3, with Katie Jewart adding 15. Sarah Morley had 31 assists and Shandy Gonzalez had 28 digs.

The Pioneers play Oct. 30-31 in the Region XX Championship at Howard (Md.) Community College in Baltimore. The winner of that event advances to the national tournament.

Butler graduate Laura Vollmer, a senior goalkeeper on the Westminster College women's soccer team, recorded a shutout in her first start this season.Vollmer had four saves as the Titans blanked Bethany (W.Va.), 8-0, Saturday.

Butler graduate Meghan Schnur is among 21 soccer players who will represent the United States at the upcoming FIFA Under-19 Women's World Championships in Thailand.The tournament will be held in Bangkok, Chaing Mai and Phuket Nov. 10-27.

ALAMEDA, Calif. - Jerry Rice got his wish Monday night when the Oakland Raiders traded the NFL's most prolific receiver to the Seattle Seahawks.The trade will be finalized after Rice undergoes a physical and the league gives its approval. An NFL source, speaking to The AP on the condition of anonymity, said the Raiders expected to receive a conditional seventh-round draft pick in return for Rice but the final details were still being worked out between the teams.Calls to Seahawks officials weren't immediately returned Monday night.Rice told his teammates Monday he was headed to the Seahawks, and signed autographs for some before leaving.
