Loretta 'Jean' Monks

Loretta "Jean" Monks, 61, of Summit Street died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler, Feb. 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Floyd A. Sr. and Dorothy Huselton Rauschenberger.

Mrs. Monks was a homemaker.

She was a member of the North Street Christian Church. She also belonged to the Good Samaritan Shrine 32 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Butler Chapter 45 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth 145. She was a former member of and a current member of the executive board of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls Assembly 25.

Surviving are her husband, Gary Lee Monks Sr., whom she married Aug. 4, 1961; two sons, Gary Lee Jr. and David A. Monks, both of Butler; a daughter, Kellie A. Monks of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Two brothers preceded her in death.

MONKS - Friends of Loretta Jean Monks, who died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at North Street Christian Church, 220 W. North St., with the Rev. Robert Huber officiating. Burial will follow in North Side Cemetery.Members of Good Samaritan Shrine 32 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem will hold a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home,Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association.Information also is available at www.thompson-miller.com.
